One last note

The crowd erupts with applause, the bands energy radiating off the field. For the last time the band played their show during half-time. Three long months of late night, and after school practices led up to that moment.  “Our last half time show was amazing despite it being Halloween,” says Anabelle Cervone,‘27. Relief washes over the band, it’s finally over, those late Friday nights have come to an end. A bittersweet finale for the seniors as they play in the stands for the last time. However, it isn’t the bands finale performance of the season. Since August, the band has been preparing for their grand finale at Metlife Stadium, where the perform at the USBands competition. “I cannot wait for my first and last Metlife experience,” says Crista Kopec ‘26. “I am a very emotional person so I am preparing to say goodbye to one of the best things I have ever done in my life.”

Stroudsburg students partake in College Fair

As we know the college fair has been a big deal for Stroudsburg. To find out more we luckily were able to interview Ms. Onody who is a Stroudsburg Guidance Counselor and started the college fair at Stroudsburg High school.    Where did you first hear about the college fair? “East Stroudsburg South used to have a college fair and they invited all of the schools in Monroe county. It was discontinued and shortly after the idea of bringing it to Stroudsburg was recommended by the NHS (National Honors Society).”   What was your goal or idea when you introduced it to Stroudsburg?  “The point of it was to give students ideas for their future”   What was the process of bringing it to Stroudsburg?

The rising interest in professional women’s ice hockey

The Pembroke Pandas were a women’s hockey team created in 1964 by Brown University. It was not until two years later, in 1966, that they played their first game making them the first intercollegiate women’s ice hockey team in the United States. This game was 70 years after the first men’s intercollegiate ice hockey game with Yale University playing against John Hopkins University in 1896. There has always been a noticeable gap in the general success of men’s sports versus women’s sports. However, the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) has been making considerable steps towards closing that gap. “ I think it is important for young female hockey players to have something to aspire for after high school or college play, especially since men have had a professional league for decades. — Savannah Mordvinov, '26
