As we know the college fair has been a big deal for Stroudsburg. To find out more we luckily were able to interview Ms. Onody who is a Stroudsburg Guidance Counselor and started the college fair at Stroudsburg High school.
Where did you first hear about the college fair?
“East Stroudsburg South used to have a college fair and they invited all of the schools in Monroe county. It was discontinued and shortly after the idea of bringing it to Stroudsburg was recommended by the NHS (National Honors Society).”
What was your goal or idea when you introduced it to Stroudsburg?
“The point of it was to give students ideas for their future”
What was the process of bringing it to Stroudsburg?
“First we had to have Mr. Sodl on board for the idea, then we had to figure out security and when to invite colleges to make sure they weren’t already too busy.”
How do get more students involved and excited for the fair?
“We like to do raffles so that the stands can be more interactive for the students.”
And lastly how can students remember and hold all of the important information they learn at the fair?
“We have an online registration tool called Strivescan and students can save information they would want colleges to see and they are able to see all of the colleges on strive scan.”
