The psychology department at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania hosted the 54th Biannual Research Forum at the end of the fall 2025 semester. The Research Forum was started over 25 years ago by Sussie Eshun, Ph.D., professor of psychology, and Richard Wesp, Ph.D., retired distinguished professor of psychology, as a venue to showcase the outstanding student research being done in the psychology department.  It has steadily grown since then and now includes numerous research and internship posters, student award presentations, and honor society inductions.

This week in the comic world, writer Joshua Williamson teamed up with artist Carmen Carnero for a new run of Marvel’s Iron Man main comic series.  After last year’s abrupt cancellation of Insurgent Iron Man, Marvel moved quickly to rebrand the armored avenger with a new creative team.  The first issue of the run was released on Jan. 28, 2026. Joshua Williamson, most notably known for his DC work on Superman, came over to Marvel to begin a new journey writing one of the most popular super heroes of all time, Iron Man; the millionaire, highly intelligent and charismatic man in an iron clad outfit. This new issue, however, is  legacy #681 in the series. Right off the bat, the issue takes the essence of Iron Man and portrays it to the max. Iron Man, also known as Tony Stark, is grandiose, charismatic, popular, etc. The book perfectly captures what makes Tony Stark who he is.

The Stroudsburg Girls basketball team is working hard and pushing themselves so far this season. So far, they have five wins and 11 losses. The team’s success cannot be measured by wins and losses alone. This year, the girls have been building a strong bond and foundation for the future. The Lady Mounties started the basketball season with a new coaching staff. The girls’ new head coach is Coach Kelly Williams. With a new coach stepping in, the program experienced a new team culture. Players are constantly being challenged to push themselves harder, communicate better on the court, and take responsibility both individually and as a team. The team has shown deep determination and great adaptability skills throughout the season.

While the Borough ultimately has the final say, I've shared a letter with Stroudsburg Borough Council recommending they consider transferring their authority to the courts to fill their mayoral vacancy. This step would play an important role in restoring public trust.

A new urgent care facility is opening in Middle Smithfield Township.On Jan. 27, the ribbon was cut on the new JeffExpress Urgent Care at 4541 Milford Road, East Stroudsburg. The new urgent care, which shares the same facility as Lehigh Valley Physician Group Family Medicine, was scheduled to open at 8 a.m. Jan. 29.

Pennsylvania State Police obtained an arrest warrant for a man accused of beating a woman until she “blacked out” outside a store in Monroe County.The suspect, 36-year-old Donovan S. Mack, has several open criminal cases against him, according to his public court summary. These include an alleged assault last October at a fast food restaurant that left a woman bleeding from the mouth.State police at Stroudsburg detailed the most recent incident in a news release Monday. The district court that issued the arrest warrant said Mack was not in custody Tuesday afternoon.
