Officer Dustin Rentschler and Officer Daniel Campagna were sworn in at the Board of Commissioners meeting on Monday February 2nd, 2026 by the Honorable Magistrate Kresge. Both officers came to Pocono Township with prior police experience in Monroe County, and are looking forward to serving the great citizens of Pocono Township and its visitors. The two new officers will now begin a months long field training program as they acclimate to PTPD. News

ESU Residential College Visits Blue Mountain Resort
On January 28, students from East Stroudsburg University’s College of Business and Management’s Residential College Program visited Blue Mountain Resort, a premier winter sports destination in the heart of the Lehigh Valley, for an immersive experiential learning opportunity.
During the visit, students participated in an exclusive snowmaking tour and technical workshop, where they gained insight into the processes, technologies, and facility management practices that support large-scale snowmaking operations. Last night, our boys basketball team had their senior night and last regular game of the season. They ended their season on the right track and defeated the Wallenpaupack’s team with an ending score of 69-50. Jerel Jackson was the lead scorer with 21 points and towards the end of the 3rd quarter Josh Ivers-Green had an impressive dunk, causing the crowd to go wild. The boys will continue on to the district playoffs hopefully succeeding and moving forward into the state playoffs. Good luck to them!

Thurgood Marshall was the first African-American to serve as a Supreme Court Justice.
Born June 2, 1908, Marshall was first introduced to law after being made to read the U.S Constitution as punishment for a prank he had pulled in high school.

Pocono Township Commissioners clash after racism accusation
POCONO TOWNSHIP- MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A heated exchange at a recent council meeting between a board member and commissioner has bubbled up into a controversy in Pocono Township.A local business owner and township board member announced he is pulling funding for township events after commissioner Charles Keppler called him a racist during a recent meeting. This came after a Facebook post was made by the board member.Monday, another commissioner formally asked Keppler to step down.“Actions which have raised questions from the public to me about the board’s professionalism and actions that have eroded public confidence in the board, I’m requesting that Charles Keppler resign from the Pocono Township board of commissioners,” Mike Velardi, a Pocono Township commissioner, said.
