Short Term Rental Information
Tobyhanna Township approved a short-term rental ordinance in 2022. A revision to the ordinance was adopted in February of 2024 that changed the occupancy limit to 2 per bedroom + 2 and reduced fines for violations to be within state guidelines. Tobyhanna Township recently imposed a cap on the number of short term rentals licenses and due to the uncertainties surrounding license issuance, caution is advised when purchasing in Tobyhanna Township. TOBYHANNA, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Tobyhanna Army Depot honored those in the military who are prisoners of war or are missing in action Thursday.

Travel Advisory: Interstate 80, Exit 308 Project – Lincoln Avenue Closure
TOBYHANNA, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A home with children living inside was found in deplorable conditions during a fugitive arrest, according to police.
Police report while arresting a fugitive Jewels Zachary Jenkins, 23, of Tobyhanna had three firearms that were found all in nonsecure areas of a house in the 4000 block of Burnside Drive.
Inside the home, police describe "deplorable" conditions that include moldy food, trash, and dog and cat feces throughout the residence, as stated in the affidavit.
