The borough of Stroudsburg has implemented a new Short-term Rental Ordinance and refined zoning regulations to prohibit short term rentals in residential districts (R-1, R-2 and R-3) and allow it in all other zoning districts.  A license and annual inspection is required, more details under Housing section on borough's website.  See rules and regulations and permit application below.

A petition for a change of name for Kayden Riley Bucello, a minor, to Kayden Riley Klein, a minor, has been filed in the Monroe County Court of Common Pleas on February 9, 2026. 

The hearing for this petition is scheduled for April 2, 2026, at 2 PM in Courtroom #TBD at the Monroe Country Courthouse located at 610 Monroe Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360-1290. 

This hearing provides an opportunity for all interested parties to appear and present any reasons why the name change should not be approved. 

An abandoned boat, identified as a 18-foot Skeeter Highway Marine with hull identification number STED6761D091, was discovered on 9/17/2025 in Stroudsburg, PA 18360. The boat's registration number is unknown. If the boat remains unclaimed and unremoved within 30 days from the date of this notice, it will be registered to the property owner at the location where it was found. Throughout the day, attend short financial education sessions led by experts from UECU. Each session is approximately 30 minutes and designed to give you practical tips you can use right away.

On March 10, 2026, the Stroudsburg High School Choir held its annual March concert in the high school auditorium.

The theme this year was “Be the Light,” where they featured songs, Lumen (Receive the light) by Abbie Betinis, Stand Up from the movie Harriet by Cynthia Erivo, Stardust by B.E. Boykin, Total Praise by Richard Smallwood, and lastly, Es Tu Tiempo by Francisco J. Nuñez.

All of these songs portrayed reaching for or being the light. They symbolized hope, perseverance, and the pursuit of that light.

Many of these songs featured soloists and speakers.

HARRISBURG — Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that a Monroe County man — a repeat offender — has been charged with possessing hundreds of images and videos of child sexual abuse material.

Aaron Scott Ragg, 54, of Stroudsburg, was recently arrested and charged with 501 felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse material and one count of criminal use of a communication facility. His bail was set at $250,000 and he is ordered to have no contact with minors and no internet access.

The Stroud Township Sewer Authority has scheduled a special meeting on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Stroud Township Municipal Center located at 1211 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania 18360. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss and make decisions regarding sewer user charges administration and billing, including a potential agreement with the Brodhead Creek Regional Authority for billing services. Additionally, the Authority will review and confirm existing sewer rates and charges.

Pins for Pups is an upcoming bowling fundraiser hosted by Stroudsburg High School’s Community Connections club.

This event will be held to benefit Camp Papillon Animal Shelter. Students will be able to go bowling and the money raised from the event will be donated to the shelter.

Summit Lanes in Pocono Summit will hold this fundraiser on Tuesday, March 17 from 8:15 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.

It will cost $25 to attend and permission slips and money are due to the activities office by March 13, 2026.

Stroudsburg High School’s 2026 prom will be held on May 9, 2026 at 6:00 PM.

The theme is “Night at the Casino” and the dance will be held at the ArtsQuest Center in Bethlehem, PA.

Tickets cost $80 and sales end on March 11. Out of district guest forms are due on the same day.

The Board of Supervisors of Stroud Township, Monroe County, Pennsylvania, will conduct a public hearing on March 17, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Stroud Township Municipal Building. The hearing will address an application for modifying the stormwater management requirements outlined in Chapter 23 of the Stroud Township Code of Ordinances.

Yes! My wife and I met our senior year of high school and we’ve been together ever since. She’s actually a teacher as well; teaches Kindergarten over in Pleasant Valley. She eventually inspired me to become a teacher myself. We have two boys, Nathan and Nicholas, and a dog named Lucky.

On Saturday, February 21, Stroudsburg Wrestling travelled to Bethlehem Liberty Highschool gym for the District XI Wrestling Championship.

Stroudsburg saw three medalists and and a ninth place finish in the tournament.

Jack Jasionowicz, ’26, placed third in the 107lb bracket, punching his ticket to Regionals, falling only to the eventual champion in the semi-finals. Jasionowicz currently is 28 and 6, tieing his record from his junior year with multiple matches ahead of him still.

Stroudsburg High School’s Model Congress/Model United Nations club went on a trip to Harvard Thursday February 19 to Sunday February 22 where club participants debated public policy in various committees, including US House and US Senate, the Council of Mayors, and the Constitutional Convention. Teacher, Mr. Haggerty, who runs the club and went on the trip says it was an “awesome event” and thanks those who participated.

Stroudsburg High School celebrates Valentine’s Day with a Valentine’s Day theme, Photo Booth!

The Barrett Township Planning Commission in Cresco, Pennsylvania, will conduct a public meeting on March 4, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Barrett Administrative and Recreation Complex. 

The purpose of this meeting is to elect officers, establish rules and regulations for its procedures as per the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, and address any Planning Commission business. 

Following the reorganization meeting, the Commission will convene its regular monthly meeting. 

Hamilton Township in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, has prepared an Act 537 Component 3 Plan Update for the replacement of the Pleasant Valley Manor Wastewater Treatment Facility to meet sewer service needs. The proposed plan includes constructing a new wastewater treatment facility utilizing an extended aeration process near 4250 Manor Drive, Stroudsburg. The estimated cost for the PVM Wastewater Treatment Facility is $4,390,000, to be financed through general obligation bonds and user rates.

The Monroe County Commissioners are seeking proposals for a project involving the Continuity of Operations/Continuity of Government Plan for the county. Interested parties can access project details on the monroecountypa.gov website or by contacting Maryellen Keegan, Director of the Monroe County Office of Emergency Management. Proposals must be submitted in a sealed envelope to the Monroe County Controller's Office by 1:30 p.m. on March 12, 2026, with a public opening of the proposals scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on the same day at the Monroe County Administrative Center.

An estate notice has been issued for the estate of Bernard I. Garvey, also known as Bernard Irvin Garvey, who passed away in Hamilton Township, Monroe County, Pennsylvania. Mollie Garvey has been appointed as the Executrix of the estate. Individuals who owe money to the estate are required to settle their debts promptly, while those with claims against the estate must submit them to Mollie Garvey or her attorney within four months from the notice date.
