Mikaela Lipitz wins best attorney in the 2025-26 Mock Trial Competition

On November 22, 2025,  Stroudsburg High School hosted the Monroe County Bar Association’s annual Mock Trial Invitational. Nine different schools came to compete, bringing a total of fifteen different teams. It was a busy day with a lot of really strong competitor, but Stroudsburg had a standout moment of it’s own. One of Stroudsburg’s attorneys, Mikaela Lipitz, 26′, won the award for Best Attorney. She earned it through her performance which was confident and well-put-together. Her cross-examination was sharp and organized, and her closing statement showed that she really understood the case.  The judges also pointed out how her objections were consistently accurate and how she stayed calm and professional the whole time. Overall, the Invitational was a big success, and Lipitz’s win was a proud moment for the whole team.

Human trafficking ring busted in Monroe County

POLK TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Disturbing details about sex-trafficking in the Poconos. Investigators say they broke up an operation that had been running for more than two years.  28/22 News reporter Heidi Martens breaks down what police say happened.  State police uncovered the sex-trafficking operation taking place here in Polk Township. According to investigators, several women were recruited online, then pressured into doing commercial sex acts for money.Thomas Green is accused of pretending to start relationships with the women, then controlling their lives.
