POCONO TOWNSHIP- MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A heated exchange at a recent council meeting between a board member and commissioner has bubbled up into a controversy in Pocono Township.
A local business owner and township board member announced he is pulling funding for township events after commissioner Charles Keppler called him a racist during a recent meeting. This came after a Facebook post was made by the board member.
Monday, another commissioner formally asked Keppler to step down.
“Actions which have raised questions from the public to me about the board’s professionalism and actions that have eroded public confidence in the board, I’m requesting that Charles Keppler resign from the Pocono Township board of commissioners,” Mike Velardi, a Pocono Township commissioner, said.
