East Stroudsburg University’s latest cohort of nursing program graduates achieved a 95% first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-RN), exceeding state and national averages. The group of 20 graduates became eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, a requirement to practice as a registered nurse, after completing the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in May. The pass rate earned by the cohort exceeds both Pennsylvania’s average pass rate of 94.8% and the national average pass rate of 91.9%, according to 2024 data of first-time exam takers. All courses in the nursing program curriculum are designed to prepare students for the NCLEX-RN. Additionally, seniors due to graduate take a proctored predictor exam and attend a live review course during the spring of their final semester.

The National Hockey League (NHL) Preseason recently wrapped up on October 4, 2025. While some results seemed typical with well-accomplished teams and star players performing well, a few underdogs found their game. The Detroit Red Wings ended the preseason as the top team in goals, assists, and points. Detroit rookie, Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, was tied for 1st in goals and points for preseason players. Other teams including the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Washington Capitals, and the Colorado Avalanche also held top spots in preseason team leaders.

Chair of the Pa. House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee state Rep. Maureen Madden speaks about her resolution recognizing Oct. 9, 2025 as Ageism Awareness Day in Pennsylvania. KUNKLETOWN, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 28/22 News is getting a first full look at an area resource for homeless veterans. Valor Clinic Foundation invited 28/22 News for a tour of what they call Paul's House on Wednesday. It's a transitional home in Kunkletown designed to give veterans without a home a way to get help with mental health, access to food, and a chance to get back on their feet. This comes before an open house this weekend that will give people a chance to see the living spaces there for themselves, after only ever being able to see the main common room. "The programs and the people and the processes that occur here create a family, and so you may exit these doors, but the people that you come in contact with here do not exit your life," House Manager Erin Kelly told 28/22 News.

On Friday, October 3, Taylor Swift released her 12 studio album titled “The Life of A Showgirl.” Taking a turn from her past few albums, “The Life Of A Showgirl” has more of an upbeat and happy feel, using synth and pop sounds. It is nice to hear a happy album from Swift. “I like a lot of the sounds and beats from this album. I do think that the lyrics could use some work,” says Adeline Houser, ’26 Swift has used William Shakespeare as an inspiration for many of her past albums. She likes the stories because of the tragedy. In this album, she used them to compare her feelings as happier than the tragedies that Shakespeare gave these characters.  In the album opener, “The Fate of Ophelia,” Swift expresses her feelings of finally finding a love that saved her from the fate of Ophelia.

EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — As Hispanic Heritage Month continues, 28/22 News is spotlighting a unique group of students at East Stroudsburg High School South. They call themselves the Traveliers from Eastburg, and thanks to the vision of two dedicated Spanish teachers, these students are discovering the world in unforgettable ways. PA live! Host Chris Bohinski has the story. It started as an idea between two Spanish teachers: give students not just the language, but the world. From that dream, the Traveliers of Eastburg was born. "We started this about four years ago, and it all started because we believe that traveling opens your eyes and teaches you more than what a textbook can teach you," ESHSS Teacher (and The Traveliers from Eastburg Co-founder) Betty Kiesling told 28/22 News. Even their name carries meaning, combining the school mascot, the Cavaliers, with the spirit of traveling.

Hispanic Heritage Month takes place between September 15 through October 15, and this year at Stroudsburg High school students and staff of hispanic heritage were interviewed. This created a combined video with the goal of representing the hispanic community in Stroudsburg but also to celebrate the beauty and individual experiences of being hispanic.
