Delaware Water Gap, Pennsylvania, is a picturesque borough and natural landmark nestled at the southern tip of Monroe County, where the Appalachian Mountains split dramatically around the Delaware River, forming the iconic “gap” that gives the town its name. It’s both a charming small town and the gateway to one of the most stunning recreational areas in the northeastern United States.
Delaware Water Gap is often called the Eastern Gateway to the Poconos, but it also stands apart with its blend of natural grandeur, historic depth, and artistic spirit. It’s a place where geology meets culture—where the river carved a passage through mountains, and people built a community around it.
The borough of Delaware Water Gap adopted a Short-term Rental Ordinance in 2022. Operators much obtain a license and there are occupancy restrictions. See application below for rules and how to obtain a permit.
28/22 NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Multiple projects throughout Monroe and Pike Counties will now begin thanks to a $2,000,000 state grant.
State Representative Tarah Probst helped get the funding for those counties.
The money is coming from local share accounts.
The Monroe County Industrial Development Authority was awarded $1,210,000 for many projects, including renovations for the Monroe County Historical Association.

Earlier this semester, East Stroudsburg University’s department of sport management welcomed six guest speakers currently working in the sport industry to campus for the S.C.O.R.E. (Sport Careers: Opportunities, Recruitment, and Employment) Symposium. A total of 89 students attended the symposium.
EYEWITNESS (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials have announced the Recovery Assistance Center ( RAC) has opened for those in NEPA impacted by the flood.
According to the Shapiro Administration, the RAC is open for homeowners, renters, and business owners damaged by the flood on September 9 in Luzerne, Lackawanna, Monroe, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties.
