Claudette Colvin was the first protester to protest against segregated seating.  In the early spring of 1955, Colvin was on her way home from high school. At this time, she had been studying her rights during the Jim Crow era and segregation. The driver ordered her to leave her seat and move, which she refused, stating she had paid her fare to be on the bus. She would then be put in handcuffs and become the first person arrested for “breaking” Montgomery bus segregation laws.
