On January 24, 2026 Stroudsburg wrestling team participated in EPC’s at. The girls’ wrestling team solidified their place at districts after Jasmine Chapman ’26 won first place in the finals.
This is not only a special moment for the team but for Stroudsburg as she made Stroudsburg history by being the first girl to place first in EPC’s. Considering this is the second year Stroudsburg has a girls’ team, it was monumental and earned her a small highlight in the Pocono Record.
For her final match, Jasmine wrestled Jennifer Szmak ’27, Pocono Mountain West, to whom she had previously been pinned by at PMW earlier in the season. “
It was amazing. Honestly, it was amazing. I was overwhelmed. I thought I was going to lose because previously Jennifer—-, who I wrestled for first place— had pinned me at Pocono Mountain West.

A brief history of your athletic journey.
I placed 6th in districts last year, and I started wrestling last year aswell.
Are there any short-term goals you’d like to accomplish in the next few months to a couple of years?
I plan to place at districts and hopefully go to regionals. We’ll see about states.
What gives you the passion to wrestle?
I just love wrestling. Like, honestly, when I get out on the mat, I just feel amazing. When I’m on the mat, I love to perform, and just doing what I love gives me the passion. My fastest pin was 13 seconds.
Is there a coach or athlete that you look up to as a role model, and why?
Coach Jones helps keep me going, and they are very encouraging.
Rank the top five priorities currently in your life.
Building my relationship with God is one. Getting ready for college. Wrestling and working hard to improve. I want to try my best in everything I do. My studies are another. Friends and family are a top priority. My fifth one is probably working on myself, whether it’s physical or mental.
What extracurricular activities are you involved in?
I’ve done cross country this year, and I plan to do track & field again this year after I started it last year.
What inspired you to start wrestling, and what keeps you motivated?
I’m not going to lie. I joined last year because my grandmother wanted me to, but honestly, I love it. It builds discipline and strength. I love the team and coaches, and it drives me to stay motivated and keep going in every aspect of my life.
How do you prepare for a match?
Personally, I like to sit with my thoughts. I pray for strength and calm.
What is your greatest strength as a wrestler? Your most challenging/worst performance?
My strength is my double blast. It’s literally what I’m known for. I use it in almost every match I’m in, and it usually gets me points in my pin. Once I get them in the position, they fall on their back where I keep them. My match at West was my worst performance. I wasn’t at my best that day, and I know I could have done better and tried harder.
What is teamwork to you? How does your team help you grow?
Teamwork is having a support system and friends to cheer you on. Even if you’re losing. I’d say I get a lot of growth from them through encouragement. One of my wrestling partners
