A confrontation involving several teenagers and two adults at a township park earlier this month prompted a police response and is now the subject of multiple videos circulating locally.
The incident occurred Wednesday, March 11 at Chestnuthill Township Park.
Two cellphone videos reviewed by this outlet appear to show a group of teenagers near the park’s basketball courts when an adult woman approaches and begins yelling, escalating the situation. At one point in the footage, an adult male is seen striking a teenager and forcing the individual to the ground.
Multiple youths appear to be recording the encounter on their phones. One video shows a phone being thrown a significant distance during the confrontation.
In a second sequence, an adult male is seen running toward another individual who is backing away. Pepper spray is then deployed, after which the man stops and does not continue advancing.
The Chestnuthill Township manager confirmed that an incident occurred when contacted by phone, though no additional details were provided.
Law enforcement response was handled by the Pennsylvania State Police, which serves the township. A request for information regarding possible arrests and charges was left with state police on March 17.
According to a person who submitted the videos, recordings of the incident were provided to authorities. The township has also made video footage available, though that version does not include audio.
It has not yet been confirmed whether arrests were made or if any charges have been formally filed. Authorities have not released the names or ages of those involved.
It is also unclear whether anyone sustained injuries during the incident.
This outlet is publishing video of the confrontation that includes audio recorded at the scene.
Anyone with additional information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Pennsylvania State Police.
