BLAKESLEE, Pa. — Update: According to the Monroe County Coroner, 45-year-old Joanne Beauvais of Lackawanna County was pronounced dead at a local hospital just before midnight on February 26. The coroner found multiple gunshot wounds that led to Beauvais' death. The manner of death was ruled to be homicide.
A Monroe County man shot and killed a woman outside of his home Thursday night in Tunkhannock Twp., the Pocono Mountain Regional Police said.
Eric Chisolm called 911 around 10:30 p.m. to report that he shot a burglar outside of his window on Mountain Terrace Drive. Then, he clarified that he thought the person was a delivery driver.
In reality, he knew her, the police said.
"Through investigation, it was determined that the deceased female was in a relationship with Chisolm," the police said in a statement.
The victim, a 45-year-old woman whose identity was withheld pending notification of her family, was dead on the pavement of Chisolm's driveway. Her parked car was still running.
Chisolm fired his gun through a window, striking her outside. He is charged with an open count of criminal homicide. Bail and preliminary hearing information was not immediately available.
