Pleasant Valley Elementary School teacher Kristen Gschwend was surprised with a $5,000 prize on Jan. 21 as a national winner in the Amazing Teacher program.
Gschwend, a kindergarten through second grade life skills teacher, was the Kinsley’s ShopRite Amazing Teacher for December, receiving a $100 ShopRite gift card. Locally recognized teachers across the USA TODAY Network each month are eligible to win a $5,000 cash prize, sponsored by USA TODAY Co.
