Man pleads guilty in Poconos killing where victim’s body was hidden in a steel drum

One of two men charged in an August 2012 homicide in the Pocono Mountains pleaded guilty this week and was sentenced to prison.

Kip Morgan, 63, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was charged with 51-year-old Brian “Sonny” Hewson in the Monroe County shooting death of Stephen Lepore.

Morgan on Tuesday pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison. He was arraigned in the case Nov. 25, 2025, and received credit at sentencing for 127 days’ time served, court records show.
