Future Educators Club Celebrate Educators Day at ESU!

On November 12, the Future Educators Club went on a trip to East Stroudsburg University for their annual Aspiring Educator Pathway Project Day Trip.  Several schools were in attendance, including North, South, and East Strousburg, Pleasant Valley, Stroudsburg, and Bloomsburg. Each student receives a bag of small merchandise tokens and information on the college. It starts in the Arena of ESU, where students are introduced to ESU’s dean and several people a part of the team organizing the events.

At first, they had us participate in games like cup stacking, getting our ping pong balls into the bucket, and bottle flipping for a chance to win an ESU shirt. Each group was assigned a letter and a symbol at random. The group leaders consisted of students and ambassadors, and each workshop introduced staff members. Students were escorted to separate workshops to learn about a piece of education. There was one for regular education, how to handle negative mindsets, mental wellness & journaling techniques, discussions, and even for physical education.

The students engaged in a workshop about growth mindfulness in one workshop. This was the discussion about teachers needing to be able to learn and grow to better their students. In the physical education workshop, students were subjected to games like tug of war and trying to lower a ruler with everyone having one finger on it. “

The ESU trip was very fun! My favorite part of the trip was when we got to play tug of war with the other high school students from different districts.”

Each student of a group was broken up into small groups for the discussion workshops, where we met with ambassadors and they introduced what they are going for in education and how navigating their path has been. In the mental wellness workshop, we focused on how to ensure we remain our very best for students by having our happy place.

The biggest part of the experience was the AEPP Bingo, giving attendees a chance to win ESU merch: shirts, hats, bags, and the grand prize of an ESU Stanley. The day ended at Dansbury Commons, where attendees enjoyed access to ESU’s buffet-style lunch hall.
