Madeleine’s Story: On February 21, 1973, Madeleine G. Leonard, called her twin daughters, Debbie and Lori Leonard, at 10 pm after finishing a waitressing shift at the Top Hat (now PourHouse) Rotary Dinner in Mountainhome to tell them she “had a tip on their Dad’s murder (John Leonard, September 8, 1970) and was going to Mount Pocono to check it out.” They begged her not to go alone but she said she “would be alright and would be home shortly.” That was the last time the Twins talked to their Mom.
On February 22, 1973, the five Leonard Children became orphans and began taking care of themselves. Police Chief Robert Hartman told the children that their Mom died in an auto accident and it is related to their Dad’s Murder and she was also murdered.
