POCONO TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — One person was killed and two others injured in a crash that closed Interstate 80 westbound in Monroe County early Friday morning.
State police say a vehicle that was traveling down I-80 in Pocono Township crashed into another vehicle that had slowed down due to another crash ahead. The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released at this time.
Tow truck driver accused of fleeing crashThe two passengers of the other vehicle sustained moderate injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment, officials say.
The investigation is ongoing, according to state police.
PennDOT said the highway was closed between Exit 299 (Tannersville) and the Interstate 380 split (Exit I-380 North Scranton).
All lanes have reopened have since reopened.
