Shot Fired Into Store Front- Main St. Stroudsburg- 10/25/25Details Map On October 25, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Stroud Area Regional Police Department Officers were on routine patrol along Main Street during bar closing, when they heard the sound of a possible single gunshot. While checking the area, a glass break sensor alarm activation was received from the Stonehaus Meadery, located at 762 Main Street, in the Stroudsburg Borough. Officers arrived on scene and located a hole in the business front display glass. A projectile was also located on scene. As a result, the Stroud Area Regional Police Department, Criminal Investigations Division was notified.
Through further investigation, a white male was observed via video surveillance firing a single gunshot at the business, before entering a nearby apartment. The business was closed, but there were two occupants sleeping in the apartment above the business at the time of the shooting. No injuries were reported.
Through investigation, SARPD CID investigators identified the male firing the single gunshot as 33 year old Joseph Daniel Castro from Stroudsburg. As a result, Castro was charged with the following crimes:
- PA/CC 18 2707.1(A)- Discharge of a Firearm into Occupied Structure (F3)
- PA/CC 18 6106(a)(1)- Firearms not to be Carried Without a License (F3)
- PA/CC 18 5503(a)(4)- Disorderly Conduct (M3)
- PA/CC 18 3304(a)(5)- Criminal Mischief (M3)
On October 27, 2025, an arrest warrant for Castro was obtained. Castro turned himself in at the SARPD Headquarters, where he was then transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility for commitment. Castro was arraigned before MDJ White and monetary bail was set at $25,000.
