Baby Season is Already Here!

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

With all the snow we’ve been stuck with over the last several months, it’s hard to believe that spring is nearly upon us and baby season is off to the races! The end of winter marks the start of our busy season, and if the increasing trends continue from past years, we’re on track to assist more animals this season than ever before. That means we need your help!

Let’s be honest, babies take a LOT of work, just ask any parent you know, and wildlife babies are no different! One of the most prevalent species we see each year is the wonderful Gray Squirrel. They usually have 2 litters per year of about 2-6 “kits,” which are just about the cutest babies you’ve ever seen. These little ones require feeding every four hours, so when our center is full we are on constant squirrel feeding rotation. Having multiple litters per year means that we see squirrel kits arriving at our our door anywhere between the end of February all the way to the start of October.

That’s a lot of little squirrels! And that’s not even mentioning all the little raccoons, foxes, fawns, mice and all kinds of other mammals and birds!

In order to keep up with the high need for care, we rely deeply on the help of our community. Without your support we wouldn’t have the funds or the person power to keep our operation running, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
