On Thursday, February 12th, 2026 at approximately 1831 hours, An officer with Pocono Township Police Department was on patrol in the area of SR0611 and Warner Road when he observed a black Hyundai Elantra following another vehicle to closely and slamming on the breaks. The officer continued to follow the vehicle and observed the vehicle crossing the center line and traveled south on SR0611 in the center left turning lane. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Eva Lata, a 39-year-old from Tobyhanna. Through further investigation the officer was able to see an open bottle of vodka sitting on the passenger seat and believed the driver was driving under the influence. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County DUI Center to be finger printed and processed. Charges for dui are pending blood results.
