ARRESTDetails MapOn January 26th, 2026 at approximately 2:20pm an Officer with The Pocono Township Police Department responded to Wawa in Tannersville for a report of a physical fight near the air pumps. Upon arrival contact was made with the victim, a 24 year old male from Tobyhanna, who was suffering from a bloody lip and several red and swollen areas about his face. The victim stated a male he only knew as "Nelson" had been arguing with him over the use of the air pump. The victim stated after a verbal altercation, Nelson then punched him in the face, knocked him to the ground, and continued to hit him in the face several times until he was pulled off of the victim by others. The victim was treated at a medical facility for head trauma and a concussion as a result of the assault.
Through the use of video footage the male was positively identified as Nelson Hidalgo, a 45 year old male who resides in Tannersville. Hidalgo has been charged with misdemeanors simple assault and disorderly conduct, and summary harassment.
