Short Term Rental Information
The Borough of East Stroudsburg enacted a short term rental ordinance in 2021. The ordinance requires licensing and a list of requirements including the use of a private trash hauler. The Stroudsburg Girls basketball team is working hard and pushing themselves so far this season. So far, they have five wins and 11 losses. The team’s success cannot be measured by wins and losses alone. This year, the girls have been building a strong bond and foundation for the future.
The Lady Mounties started the basketball season with a new coaching staff. The girls’ new head coach is Coach Kelly Williams. With a new coach stepping in, the program experienced a new team culture.
A new urgent care facility is opening in Middle Smithfield Township.
On Jan. 27, the ribbon was cut on the new JeffExpress Urgent Care at 4541 Milford Road, East Stroudsburg. The new urgent care, which shares the same facility as Lehigh Valley Physician Group Family Medicine, was scheduled to open at 8 a.m. Jan. 29.
Pennsylvania State Police obtained an arrest warrant for a man accused of beating a woman until she “blacked out” outside a store in Monroe County.
The suspect, 36-year-old Donovan S. Mack, has several open criminal cases against him, according to his public court summary. These include an alleged assault last October at a fast food restaurant that left a woman bleeding from the mouth.
East Stroudsburg University’s Madelon Powers Gallery will present Echoes, an exhibition by sculptor Jonathan Hils, from Wednesday, February 4 – Wednesday, March 4. The exhibition features a body of work that explores perception, interpretation, and structure through the intersection of digital and physical processes.

Both Stroudsburg swim teams are having a great second half of the season. Many of their recent meets have had close scores on both the girls and boys sides.
Going against Emmaus on Jan. 13, Stroudsburg knew a win would be difficult; both teams gave it their all and swam fast, but lost with a boys’ score of 102-74 and a girls’ score of 42-137.
23 out of 43 individual swims were personal records, so even though both sides took a loss, they remained ready for their future meets.

A drug deal near a Monroe County housing development on Thursday evening led to a shooting that left one man injured, state police said.
Jahfari Michael Kamdar, 20, of East Stroudsburg, is facing felony charges of attempted homicide, felony aggravated assault, felony robbery, felony firearms not to be carried without a license, and felony criminal use of a communications facility.
A total of 1,965 students have been named to the Dean’s List at East Stroudsburg University for the Fall 2025 semester of the 2025-2026 academic year, as announced by Margaret Ball D.M.A., the university’s provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Students eligible for the Dean’s List must have achieved a 3.50 grade point average (GPA) or higher and be enrolled full-time. For reference, the grade “B” equates to 3 quality points per credit, while an “A” earns 4 quality points per credit.
On Saturday, January 10, Stroudsburg Wrestling took a trip over the bridge to East Stroudsburg South to take them on in a dual meet at their home. Bouncing back from last year’s loss, Stroudsburg ran away with the win in convincing fashion 52-19.
Opening the meet, the team’s 107-127 pounders pinned each of their opponents, allowing the Mountaineers to jump to a 24-0 start. Chase Fetherman, ’27, Stroudsburg’s 127 pounder pinned his opponent in 42 seconds.
C-Town is a chain of independently owned grocery stores popular in the New York City metro area and other major parts of the Northeast. They are known for selling Hispanic and Caribbean products.
Despite the stores being around for almost 50 years, Stroudsburg received its first location in 2025. It is located in the Eagle Valley Court Shopping Center in East Stroudsburg.
