C-Town is a chain of independently owned grocery stores popular in the New York City metro area and other major parts of the Northeast. They are known for selling Hispanic and Caribbean products.
Despite the stores being around for almost 50 years, Stroudsburg received its first location in 2025. It is located in the Eagle Valley Court Shopping Center in East Stroudsburg.
Stroudsburg has seen an increase in Hispanic-owned businesses in the past couple of years, with some older trailblazers. Businesses like El Merengue Restaurant, JB Hair Studio, Dominican Salon, and Urbanchic Salon are Hispanic-owned and centered.
The store was warmly welcomed upon its arrival. The store opened on December 12, 2025, offering products like recao or culantro, Colombiana Sodas, and other imported products. Shoppers were pleased to find items that were not offered by other grocery stores.
Elena Alvares, a shopper, says, “They opened up a store for my culture that has my food.” Fanny Morel, another shopper, says, “It’s great that we’re able to get our condiments like Dominican seasonings. Having everything accessible makes it easy.”
Though it seems unexciting on the surface, the opening of this C-Town was revolutionary for the Stroudsburg Hispanic community.

C-Town es una cadena de supermercados de propiedad independiente muy popular en el área metropolitana de la ciudad de Nueva York y en otras zonas importantes del noreste de Estados Unidos. Es conocida por vender productos hispanos y caribeños. A pesar de que la cadena existe desde hace casi 50 años, Stroudsburg recibió su primera tienda en 2025. Está ubicada en el centro comercial Eagle Valley Court, en East Stroudsburg.
En los últimos años, Stroudsburg ha visto un aumento en negocios de propiedad hispana, junto con algunos pioneros que llevan más tiempo establecidos. Negocios como El Merengue Restaurant, JB Hair Studio Dominican Salon y Urbanchic Salon son de propiedad hispana y están enfocados en la comunidad.
Obio, la tienda fue recibida con entusiasmo al momento de su llegada. C-Town abrió sus puertas el 12 de diciembre, ofreciendo productos como recao o culantro, refrescos Colombiana y otros productos importados. Los compradores se mostraron satisfechos al encontrar artículos que no estaban disponibles en otros supermercados.
Elena Alvares, una compradora, dice “Abrieron una tienda para mi cultura que tiene mi comida”. Fanny Morel, otra compradora, dice “Es genial que podamos conseguir nuestros condimentos, como los sazones dominicanos. Tener todo accesible lo hace fácil”.
Aunque en la superficie pueda parecer poco emocionante, la apertura de este C-Town fue revolucionaria para la comunidad hispana de Stroudsburg.
