America’s 250th Anniversary is about more than reflecting on our past, it’s about honoring the contributions of individuals who built this country, the innovations that put this country on the map and a man on the moon, and imagining what the next 250 years might look like for our children and the generations to come. Monroe County will be honoring our history and heritage with events throughout 2026.

Winter Beer Fest

Winter Beer Fest takes place at Skytop Lodge in Skytop on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM, offering an outdoor afternoon of seasonal flavors, brews, and family-friendly fun. Guests are encouraged to dress warmly for this open-air event, with warming stations, campfires, and heaters available throughout the festival area.

New Year’s Eve Party at Barley Creek Brewery

New Year’s Eve Party takes place at Barley Creek Brewery in Tannersville on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 starting at 7:00 PM, with the featured celebration at 9:00 PM. This early countdown offers all the fun of New Year’s Eve without the late-night wait.

At 9:00 PM, guests can raise a glass during a mocktail and cocktail toast and watch the beer keg drop. Food and drink specials will be available throughout the evening, making it easy to celebrate on your own schedule.

This training welcomes all professionals in the Monroe County and surrounding areas to learn about human trafficking; signs, resources, and how to respond to victims. This training is to raise awareness in everyone's communities, so that, we can come closer to eliminating human trafficking!

Tobyhanna Township approves second data center zoning overlay

TOBYHANNA TOWNSHIP, MONROE CO. (WOLF) — Data centers could soon become a familiar sight across northeastern Pennsylvania. One Monroe County township is moving forward with a controversial zoning change that residents say threatens the area’s natural identity.

Another meeting with a packed room, as Tobyhanna Township supervisors voted to approve a zoning overlay that allows a data center to be built on land currently zoned rural residential. While municipalities are required to allow for them in zoning, residents in Tobyhanna Township say where they go matters just as much.

Smithfield Twp Gateway Sketch Plan

The sketch plan proposes a future land development (LDP) to develop phases 1B, 2A, & 2B of Smithfield Gateway. Proposed improvements include two data center buildings (each with a 125,000 sq. ft. footprint), a power substation, a 110-room hotel, and two standalone restaurants. The project is located on parcels 16.8.2.7 and 16.8.2.7-2.
