JACKSON TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities say a 52-year-old man is dead after a crash in Monroe County on Monday. In a press release, Monroe County Coroner Thomas Yanac says they were called to a two-car crash on Monday on Route 715 in Jackson Township. Shortly after 4:15 p.m., the coroner pronounced a 52-year-old man from Chestnuthill Township dead on the scene. 1 sent to hospital, police searching for vehicle in Scranton incident The release says the name of the man who died will not be released at this time and that an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6. According to Yanac, the cause and manner of death are currently pending, and the Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the incident.

The first three innings were quick, with two straight strikeouts from each pitcher along with one pop fly and a line-out to end the first. Both teams collected outs that ended two scoreless innings. In the bottom of the third inning, a hit by Izzy Molinero, ’25, and Ava Fagan-Huse, ’27, (and an error on West) allowed two runs, making it 2-0 Stroudsburg. In the top fourth, Kat Lavra, ’26 singles on a fly ball and brings Dorothy “Dot” Elko, ’26 home, making it 3-0 Stroudsburg. In the bottom of the fifth, Melissa Safin, ’25 hits a single, Molinero scores, bringing the score to 4-0 Stroudsburg. In the bottom of the sixth, Elko hits a triple. Dr. Cordova has served Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) for the past 13.5 years. In his role as Founding Vice President for Student Success & Enrollment Management for 6.5 years, Dr. Cordova led a comprehensive division comprising four units containing 15 departments all aimed towards optimizing and maximizing FGCU’s efforts in: admitting best-fit students to FGCU, enhancing student engagement and campus life, improving student retention, persistence, and four-year graduation rates, as well as decreasing the cost of attendance while enhancing the employability of students following graduation.

Christine Donohue ’74 will be the keynote speaker for East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania’s two undergraduate commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 10 in Koehler Fieldhouse. Justice Christine Donohue serves on the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Her term of office commenced in January 2016. Prior to her service as a Supreme Court Justice, Justice Donohue served on the Superior Court of Pennsylvania for eight years.

CHESTNUTHILL TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A 17-year-old will be charged as an adult after allegedly going on a crime spree across Monroe County, the district attorney states. According to District Attorney Mike Mancuso, Monroe County law enforcement has filed charges against 17-year-old Kaiden Brown after a series of overnight crimes on April 26 in Chestnuthill Township. On April 26, around 5:00 a.m., state police say they were called to Fairview Circle in Chestnuthill Township, for the report of a house window being shot at sometime overnight. Two people were home when the shooting occurred. Throughout the morning, several incidents were reported to state police that were similar to the shooting and close in proximity.
