On April 26, 2025, Pocono Township Police responded to The Pocono Brewery Company (2092 Route 611, Swiftwater, PA) for a report of employee theft.

Employee Matthew Czapkowicz (Effort, PA) was observed taking cash during his shift. He returned the money taken that evening, was immediately terminated, and trespassed from the property.

A follow-up investigation determined that cash had been taken on 15 separate occasions over a three-week period, totaling $535.06.

Initial charges were filed on June 12, 2025:

  • (1) Count Theft by Deception (M1)
  • (1) Count Receiving Stolen Property (M1) Reference ID: 2025-00004283

The charges were dropped after Czapkowicz fully repaid the documented amount ($535.06) to the business. No further prosecution occurred.
