"Friends and family:

I am  announcing my candidacy for the state Senate seat from Pennsylvania’s 40th Senatorial District.  I am a registered Democrat, running in the primary for the privilege of being the party’s nominee in November.  Yes: I am an underdog in this race.  I'm walking into spring training and asking the Yankees for a tryout. I get it.  But I am sincere about pursuing this campaign and representing this district in the Pennsylvania state Senate.

I will build my campaign platform on planks we can affect at the state level:

1)   VETERANS—there should be no homeless veterans, HERE, or ANYWHERE

2)   AFFORDABILITY—putting more roofs above heads in Pennsylvania at a cost that can actually be  paid. Our minimum wage is $7.25 hourly...leaving families with a whopping $290.  weekly salary...before taxes.  We must promote  a LIVING  minimum wage. Also, encouraging public-private partnering to build and renovate housing

3)   HEALTHCARE—making it about HEALTH and CARE again

4)   HUMAN TRAFFICKING—Let's get Pennsylvania out of the top ten human trafficking states.  Over the past five years, 1,432 human-trafficking offenses were filed on 431 cases. Source: https://www.pacourts.us/.../human-trafficking-awarness-in...

Pennsylvania's human trafficking hotspots are the Lower Susquehanna Valley, the Philadelphia metro area, and the Pittsburgh metro area.

5).    SUBSTANCE ABUSE—Recognize that addiction is a disease: treat it as such, and support treatment courts in ALL Pennsylvania counties

I am...

“One of US…for all of US.”

Thank you for giving me this opportunity to introduce my campaign.  I would appreciate your support.

Respectfully,

Linda Jean Rushin"
