Short Term Rental Information
The Borough of East Stroudsburg enacted a short term rental ordinance in 2021. The ordinance requires licensing and a list of requirements including the use of a private trash hauler. Zoning regulations limit the licenses to Commercial and Industrial areas, properties in residential areas will need a variance. Details can be found in the East Stroudsburg STR Ordinance. The East Stroudsburg University Warrior Food Pantry recently received two donations from campus fundraisers. The hospitality, recreation, and tourism management department and art + media + design department raised $2,675 during an Empty Bowls fundraiser during the spring 2023 semester. ESU’s sustainability committee raised $2,665 during their summer Warrior Yard Sale.
Paul Wilson, Ph.D., associate professor of biology at East Stroudsburg University hosted Critters in Cherry Creek at the Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, June 17.
Dr. Wilson gave a brief presentation on water quality before bringing participants to Cherry Creek in search of macroinvertebrates.
A total of 1,244 students have been named to the Dean’s List at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) for the Spring 2023 semester of the 2022-2023 academic year, according to Margaret Ball. D.M.A., interim provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Students eligible for the Dean’s List are those who have attained a 3.50 quality point average or better and are enrolled full-time. The letter grade “B” earns 3 quality points per credit, and the grade “A” earns 4 quality points per credit.
Nine East Stroudsburg University students attended the program “Academic Seminar on National Security” through The Washington Center in Washington, D.C. The seminar, which was held May 16-24, gave college students from across the country a more in-depth understanding of the policy, operations, technology and risks surrounding cyber and national security in the United States.
The newest member of East Stroudsburg University’s Council of Trustees (COT), Damali Jackson received the oath of office on Wednesday, June 1 from COT Chairperson, L. Patrick Ross ’67.
President Kenneth Long was on hand for the official ceremony. Jackson is a junior majoring in communication from Henryville, Pa.
East Stroudsburg University’s Foundation will host the 32nd Annual Educational Scholarship Golf Classic benefiting the Prince Hall Endowed Scholarship on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Green Pond Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa.
East Stroudsburg University’s College of Education announced an upcoming Future Teacher Pathway Summit on June 7-8, 2023. The summit will be held on ESU’s campus.

Seven East Stroudsburg University students, who took Teaching of Communications during the spring 2023 semester after serving as “buddies” to German preservice teaching students who were on ESU’s campus during the fall 2022 semester, participated in a two-and-a-half-week field experience through the University of Landau-Konblenz in Landau in der Pfalz, Germany.

The theme for this year’s Summit was “Celebrating the Economic Transformation of the Poconos.”
St. Luke’s Smithfield Gateway Health Center hosted a packed house for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour of the new facility in Monroe County on March 28, 2023. The facility is located at 125 Smithfield Lane in East Stroudsburg and is set to open April 3. It will offer an array of outpatient healthcare services.
The East Stroudsburg University Foundation hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the Dale and Frances Hughes Foundation Community Health Education and Simulation Center on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. The state-of-the-art center, located in the DeNike Center for Human Services, offers simulation and inter-professional practice opportunities for East Stroudsburg University students in the College of Health Sciences and local community healthcare organizations.
