The Borough of East Stroudsburg enacted a short term rental ordinance in 2021. The ordinance requires licensing and a list of requirements including the use of a private trash hauler. East Stroudsburg University’s latest cohort of nursing program graduates achieved a 95% first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-RN), exceeding state and national averages.
The group of 20 graduates became eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, a requirement to practice as a registered nurse, after completing the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in May.

They call themselves the Traveliers from Eastburg, and thanks to the vision of two dedicated Spanish teachers, these students are discovering the world in unforgettable ways. PA live! The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), a student-run organization at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, invites community members to a Trunk or Treat event on Sunday, October 19 from 1 – 2 p.m. ESU student organizations will participate in the event, handing out treats to children.

East Stroudsburg University and Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Pocono once again partnered for the annual Pink Light Walk to raise awareness for breast cancer and to honor those facing it.
Yvonne Troiani-Sweeney ’78 always had passion for the well-being of her patients. She dedicated her life to her nursing career that spanned 30 years after earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing from East Stroudsburg University and a graduate degree in nursing from Villanova. Her colleagues and patients became her second family. Nursing led her to leadership roles at what is now the Lehigh Valley Health Network, Franklin Square Hospital in Maryland, Albert Einstein Medical Center, and the Geisinger Health System.
East Stroudsburg hosted a Borough Beautification Day at Dansbury Park on September 20, 2025. It’s a day when the community comes together to try to clean up the local area.
The National Honor Society (NHS) at Stroudsburg High School (SHS) offered more than 30 spots for its members to volunteer, with 29 members signed up and made a difference that day.
East Stroudsburg University (ESU) also had two of its fraternities helping out; some of them were past Stroudsburg graduates.

Being competitive the week of 9/14 was a must for Stroudsburg’s Field Hockey team. Coming off back-to-back losses, setting their record at 3-4, they played four games in a six-day stretch, including Bethlehem Catholic (9/15), Northampton (9/17), Pocono Mountain East (9/19), and East Stroudsburg South (9/20).
Game one of the week against Bethlehem Catholic was a lopsided 9-0 win against the Golden Hawks, taking Stroudsburg’s record to 4-4.
Falling to Northampton 0-2, they bounced back, taking down PME 5-1, and blowing out East Stroudsburg South 8-0.

From a very young age, East Stroudsburg University sophomore Savannah Zeaman understood the lasting impact teachers can have on their students.
Not only is it the reason Zeaman chose to major in early childhood and elementary education, it’s also what inspired her to begin a fundraiser that has raised nearly $40,000 towards cancer research since 2013.
STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A supermarket in the Poconos is getting help from the community to help those fighting hunger. Shoprite of Stroudsburg held its Bag for Hunger Day on Saturday.
The event is part of its month-long Partners in Caring campaign. The hunger-fighting initiative supports more than 2,000 charities.

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania announced the selection of its 2025-2026 Legislative Fellow, State Representative Eddie Day Pashinski, at breakfast held in his honor on Thursday, September 18. ESU President Kenneth Long introduced Representative Pashinski at the event to university faculty, students, staff and special guests from the community.
STROUDSBURG, Pa. — Hundreds gathered in front of the Monroe County Courthouse for a candlelight vigil honoring Charlie Kirk's life. Kirk was killed a week ago at a college campus in Utah.
"I didn't really know Charlie until after he was killed, and it's broke my heart, and I just felt that I needed to be here tonight,” said Michael Campion of East Stroudsburg.
