Short Term Rental Information

The borough of Stroudsburg has implemented a new Short-term Rental Ordinance and refined zoning regulations to prohibit short term rentals in residential districts (R-1, R-2 and R-3) and allow it in all other zoning districts.  A license and annual inspection is required, more details under Housing section on borough's website.  See rules and regulations and permit application below.

The Monroe County Office of the District Attorney is accepting applications for a full-time County Detective position in Stroudsburg, PA. This is a sworn law enforcement role responsible for investigating crimes, making arrests, and supporting prosecutions.

Applicants must already hold Act 120 certification under the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Training Act and have at least a high school diploma or GED. A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license is also required.

Decorated keystones from nearly every municipality in Monroe County were unveiled on April 1 during the Founders' Day celebration at the courthouse in Stroudsburg.

The project is part of Monroe County's celebration of America's 250th birthday on July 4.

The Monroe County Tax Claim Bureau has initiated a judicial tax sale under the Pennsylvania Real Estate Tax Sale Law of 1947. Properties listed in the petition will be auctioned off on May 18, 2026, at 10:00 am at the Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. The purpose of the sale is to clear properties of delinquent taxes, with the highest bidder acquiring the properties free of tax and municipal claims.

STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The intersection at Lower Main Street in Stroudsburg is always bustling with drivers, and soon it could get a major overhaul.

Stroudsburg Borough received $441,000 in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Borough Manager Larry Kopp says this funding is part of the borough’s Transform Main Street project. The funding will cover design and engineering costs.

On April 14, 2026, the Lady Mountaineer softball team traveled to Allentown to defeat William Allen with a shutout score of 20-0.

The second pitch of the game was destroyed by Maddie Vargas, ’27, for a solo homerun. Dorothy “Dot” Elko, ’26, singled to center field, and Maddie “Maddog” Perez, ’26, singled to left field.

The bottom of the first was quick. One Allen batter flew out to right field, and Vargas struck out the remaining two batters.

The regular meeting of the Stroud Township Board of Supervisors scheduled for April 21, 2026, at 7 p.m. has been rescheduled to April 22, 2026, at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Stroud Township Municipal Center located at 1211 N. 5th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. This rescheduling is important for residents and stakeholders who were planning to attend the meeting on the original date. For any special accommodations needed to participate, individuals are advised to contact the Township at 570-421-3362 at least one day before the rescheduled meeting.

(WBRE/WYOU) — Rep. Rob Bresnahan announced a request of $59 million in federal money for 20 NEPA projects. Bresnahan's office submitted 20 Community Project Funding (CPF) requests in advance of the 2027 fiscal year. The requests are to the House Committee on Appropriations and include the following projects:

  • Monroe County Control Center interoperable public safety radio system implementation
    • $3,500,000 requested
  • Stroudsburg five-point roundabout conversion
    • $1,600,000 requested

Stroudsburg High School (SHS) has always been known as a place where students finally receive their well-fantasized freedom. Students at the lower levels of the Middle school — and especially the Junior High — idolize the rules of the High School; specifically, one in particular: the use of cell phones.

What was once allowed at the Junior High as well was only exclusively allowed at the High School for the past few years, but recently, an impending change has been in the planning phase.

The Borough of Delaware Water Gap Planning Commission will conduct a public meeting on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Borough Building located at 49 Main Street, Delaware Water Gap, Pennsylvania 18327. The purpose of this meeting is to elect officers, establish rules and regulations for its procedures as per the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, and address any Planning Commission business. Following the reorganization meeting, the Commission will convene its regular monthly session.
