“Sunrise on the Reaping” book review

“Sunrise on the Reaping,” the newest edition of “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins, was released on March 18, 2025. The prequel follows Haymitch Abernathy, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark’s mentor in the original three books, at 16 years old. The story tells the tale of his experience in the Second Quarter Quell of the games.

ESU Athletic Training Department Invites Community to Anniversary Golf Tournament

East Stroudsburg University’s Department of Athletic Training will host a golf tournament as part of the program’s 50th anniversary celebration. The tournament will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Green Pond Country Club, 3604 Farmersville Rd, Bethlehem, Pa. Registration for the four-person scramble begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Participants can sign up as a team or as a single golfer. Prizes will be awarded for longest drive, closer to the pin, and a hole in one challenge. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit ESU’s Athletic Training Education Program. Description The Monroe County Waste Authority is holding an Ewaste Collection event on Earth Day, Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Township Event- Reminders

Description Coolbaugh Township Leaf Collection begins today (April 21st). The schedule for pickup is as follows: April 21st-25th collection will take place in Pocono Farms and Pocono Summit; April 28th-May 2nd collection will be in Pocono Farms East, Tobyhanna Village and surrounding areas as well as pickup at one location specified by the Community Associations in Private developments. Leaves must be raked to the road's edge (NO Bags or rigid containers). Also, the annual Shred Event will be held at the Coolbaugh Township Volunteer Fire Company parking lot on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 from 9am-2:30pm. There is a maximum of 20 boxes per residence allowed. (Flyers for both events are attached)

East Stroudsburg University Foundation Celebrates Successful Inaugural Athletics Giving Day

ESU Foundation Athletics Day of GivingEast Stroudsburg University Foundation (ESUF) launched its first-ever Athletics Giving Day on April 9, 2025, rallying the Warrior community in a dedicated 24-hour effort to support ESU athletics. The day was a resounding success, generating more than $30,000 in donations from over 300 supporters, including alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of the university. Athletics Giving Day was created to highlight the importance of athletics at ESU and to provide student-athletes with the resources they need to thrive. The initiative focused on engaging the university community and emphasizing the role athletics plays in promoting leadership, discipline, teamwork and school spirit.
