(WBRE/WYOU) — Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau (PMVB) released its map to help visitors find out when they can see the best fall leaves this season. PMVB predicts peak color in each color region as follows:

Track where and when peak foliage will arrive in Poconos Crisp, autumn air has kicked off one of the year’s best shows in the Poconos: fall foliage season! Fall may officially start later in September but the leaves have started their transition to vibrant colors for what is inevitably a limited engagement.

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The bugs are back, Spotted Lanternflies that is. The invasive insects have been swarming across trees, vineyards, and even backyards, causing big headaches for homeowners and farmers alike. 28/22 News Reporter Sydney Kostus found out why you may be seeing more of them this time of year. On the serene grounds of Mountain View Vineyard in Stroudsburg, you'll find about 800 feet of wildflowers planted around the grapevines. Pollinators planted for beauty, but also came in handy when the Spotted Lanternfly invaded the Keystone State. "The milkweed, the pollen seemed to attract the spotted lanternfly to them, but then we also found out that it was poisonous, so in a very short period of time, we just didn't have an issue with them," Linda Rice, Co-Owner of Mountain View Vineyard, said.

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Growing up, kids have aspirations to maybe be an astronaut, a fireman, or a singer. Well, 28/22's Sydney Kostus sat down with one child in the Poconos who had already crossed off author on his list, making his dream a reality. Reading is something Jared Payne loves to do, but this book is one of his favorites. ‘Jamal Vs His Good Side’ was published back in March. The author? The 11-year-old himself. “It’s about a young kid. He experiences rage, and he goes through a mutation overnight,” explained author Jared M. Payne. Jared says he always loved reading fiction and started writing after seeing his dad publish his first book. “He just inspired me to do so. He said, ‘Just start writing,’ and I did, and the ideas just came in,” said Jared M. Payne.

Imagine, never getting to say goodbye to your Mom or Dad when they die to horrible violence. This is exactly how our lives turned upside down and changed for the worst in 1970 and 1973 and we became orphans. September 7, 2025 was Grandparents Day. Sadly, our kids never got to meet their Grandparents and celebrate their lives with them. This September 8, 2025 marks 55 years since John W. Leonard was murdered in his taxi at Buck Hill Fall’s Inn in Cresco PA. John was survived by his wife Madeleine and their five children: Kavin, Johnny (Fawn), Lori, Debbie and Timmy.

TAKE NOTICE, that the Barrett Township Board of Supervisors is changing some of its meeting times for the remainder of 2025. Starting on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 and continuing on the second Wednesday of every month thereafter, the Board of Supervisors will start its regular public meetings at 6:30 p.m. instead of 5:30 p.m. Also, starting on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 and continuing on the third Wednesday of every month thereafter, the Board of Supervisors will start its work session meetings at 6:30 p.m. instead of 8:00 a.m.

PUBLIC NOTICE OF RESCHEDULED REGULAR MEETING TAKE NOTICE that the regular meeting of the Barrett Township Planning Commission originally scheduled for September 3, 2025, has been rescheduled to September 9, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. at the Barrett Administrative and Recreation Complex, 1200 Route 390, Cresco, Pennsylvania 18326.  The purpose of the meeting is to consider any pending and other business that comes before the Commission.
