SMITHFIELD TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The coroner announced a man died after an apartment fire in Monroe County. According to Monroe County Coroner Thomas A. Yanac, a 68-year-old man from Smithfield Township died as a result of an apartment fire on October 6 around 7:00 p.m.

The Monroe County coroner’s office has identified the victim of a Smithfield Township fire. John Stoneking, 68, was pronounced dead Sunday evening after an apartment fire on Poco Lane. The causes of death were thermal injuries and inhalation of products of combustion, the report said. It was ruled an accident.
