Do you like the circus? Do you like amazing costume designs? Do you like plot twists? Well, Pippin would be the perfect show for you! The Stroudsburg High School is doing Pippin: His Life and Times this year for their annual musical. Come on down to support your friends, family, the SHS Music Department, or if you love theatre! Showings for the play will be on April 10 and 11 at 7:30 PM, and on April 12 at 2:00 PM.
The mix of jazz dance, circus acrobatics, and the quest to find the true meaning of life adds to the interactive and high-energy nature of this musical. There will be fire, magic, and so many jazz hands. It showcases players with charisma as well as manipulation, controlling the universe and promising the audience that they have “Magic to Do,” which is the opening song. The costume design features Rococo-style dresses and hairstyles in various colors and styles, making it appealing to look at, as well as fun to perform in.
Many people have asked me what this musical is and what it is about. Pippin: His Life and Times is about the young prince named Pippin, trying to find his meaning in life, where he is guided by his circus-like troupe. He tries war, sensual pleasures, and politics before finding out that true fulfillment is found in everyday life rather than extraordinary achievements. At the end of the musical, there is a plot twist nobody would expect. So go buy your tickets at the main office before it’s too late! Also, check out the SHS TikTok page, the PIPPINeer, or posters around the school for more information or behind-the-scenes clips from cast, pit, and crew. CASH OR CHECK ONLY!
