District Attorney Mike Mancuso recently posted a response to claims that private security personnel perform police-style traffic stops in violation of Pennsylvania law.
"Enforcement of Driving Rules in a Private Gated Community: Recently a resident of A Pocono Country Place applied for dozens of Private Criminal Complaints. He wanted several security officers, their supervisors, and the property owner’s association charged with a number of crimes claiming that they are improperly exercising police powers by conducting traffic stops and using equipment like red and blue lights and radar. The matter has been carefully reviewed and the applications have been denied."
