Stroudsburg man arrested for allegedly beating man with belt, stabbing him

STROUD TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities say a Stroudsburg man was arrested after allegedly beating a 60-year-old man with a belt before stabbing him on Tuesday. The Stroud Township Police Department says 26-year-old Stroudsburg resident, Jerry Morris, is facing multiple charges, including Felony Count of Attempted Criminal Homicide and Aggravated Assault, among other related charges. According to the criminal complaint, police were called on Tuesday just before 12:00 p.m. to Momento's Restaurant after Morris beat a 60-year-old man with a belt before stabbing him in the parking lot. Police say when they arrived, the victim was lying motionless before being transported to a local hospital.

Roving DUI patrols to saturate three counties this weekend

(WBRE/WYOU) — Dozens of police officers and state troopers will be out patrolling three counties in northeastern Pennsylvania this weekend as part of Operation Nighthawk. Pennsylvania State Police say Troop P Wilkes-Barre will host Operation Nighthawk, a specialized training and enforcement program that targets drunk driving. Man shot in forehead during road rage incident, DA says "The program combines classroom instruction, workshops on DUI case law and drugged driving, and roving DUI patrols in collaboration with municipal law enforcement partners," state police said in a media release. More than 60 state troopers and municipal officers will saturate areas designated for enforcement in Luzerne, Lackawanna, and Monroe counties on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14.

Man shot in forehead during road rage incident, DA says

COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Monroe County District Attorney has confirmed a man was shot in the head during a road rage incident on Interstate 380 on Tuesday morning. According to District Attorney Mike Mancuso, Tatiana Divina Peterson, 39, of Tobyhanna, pulled alongside another car and fired multiple shots while both cars were in motion, hitting the victim in the forehead with one of the shots.
