Stroudsburg High School Track and Field team attended the annual Cavalier Invitational meet on April 24, 2026, at East Stroudsburg South High School. Teams from all over the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference and New Jersey fought for that top three spot to medal in each event.
The competition at invites are typically of high caliber, however, historically, Stroudsburg has a roster of competitive and capable athletes to bring home some wins and records. Almost every season, a school record falls and the skill gap increases, and this year is no different.
Sergio Texiera’26, Julien Texiera, ’27, Keyen Johnson, ’27, and Octavius Marte, ’27 are all a part of the 2026 4×1 relay team who smashed the school record with a 41.83 seconds total, splitting around 10.5 seconds every 100 meters. Consequently, this earned our very own relay team the number one spot in all of Pennsylvania, not just the EPC.
They not only hold the record, but also qualified for district competition as first seed, and the prestigious New Balance Nationals track meet which takes the best of the best times from numerous high school teams and individual athletes. The outdoor competition will be held in June, 2026, in Boston Massachusetts.
The team is likely to go on and earn medals at each competition that they qualify for, and it is important to stress the new heights they have reached as a unit. These student-athletes have been working hard in the off-season, and it is good to see their work paying off.
Andriana Borzio’26 had a field day warming up for discus on April 28, 2026, against Pleasant Valley High School on 28 April, 2026. She later managed to break the school record with a throw of 123’5’’ and qualify for districts. The previous record was set for only a year until it fell.
Honorable mentions in a long list of talented athletes include Juandavid Carpintero, ’26, who threw 147′ 8’’ against Pleasant Valley on the same day as Borzio. That is 15 yards past his previous record, and only 9 yards away from the school record. It is worth noting that he hit a personal record on all three throws that day, never falling short.
Keyen Johnson, ’27 ran a 10.85 second 100 meter dash, 0.25 seconds away from the school record, and he also ran a 21.99 second 200 meter dash which is 0.47 seconds away from the school record. He has solidified himself as the top 100 and 200 meter dash sprinter for the team.
