On April 14, 2026, the Lady Mountaineer softball team traveled to Allentown to defeat William Allen with a shutout score of 20-0.
The second pitch of the game was destroyed by Maddie Vargas, ’27, for a solo homerun. Dorothy “Dot” Elko, ’26, singled to center field, and Maddie “Maddog” Perez, ’26, singled to left field.
The bottom of the first was quick. One Allen batter flew out to right field, and Vargas struck out the remaining two batters.
Ava Fagan-Huse doubled on a line drive to center field, driving Katren Lavra, ’26. The score increases to 3-0 Stroudsburg. Ella Fagan-Huse ’27 drove in Jordan Cook, ’27. The score is now 4-0 Stroudsburg. Vargas doubles, driving in one run. Elko drove in one run, Perez drove in one run, and Isabella “Spiggy” Thomas, ’26, drove in one run. The score was 12-0 at the end of the top of the third inning.
In the final inning (the fourth inning), Vargas, Thomas, Abby Lavra, ’29, Karly Evans, ’28, and E. Fagan-Huse all drove in runs. The score is now 20-0 by the end of the top of the fourth.
In summary, the Lady Mountaineers accumulated 16 hits with 0 errors. William Allen had no hits and two errors.
Vargas threw a no-hitter for Stroudsburg. She had nine strikeouts for twelve batters faced, one walk, zero errors, and zero runs or hits.
William Allen accumulated zero strikeouts for 37 batters faced, seven walks, twelve errors, and 20 runs.
Stroudsburg softball will face Pocono Mountain West on April 16, 2026.
