Stroudsburg High School has a tradition called “Senior Walk” for seniors to go back to their elementary schools to visit their old teachers one last time.
On March 22, 2026, the class of ‘26 went to the local elementary schools: Chipperfield, Morey, Hamilton, and Arlington.
Kids leave for the walk during sixth period, so the Mountaineer was able to talk to some students beforehand.
Lila Smedley, ‘26, commented, “I feel excited to see my sister and all of the kids currently in the classes where I sat. I’m excited to see my mom [a teacher] and all my old teachers. Most of all, I’m going to be emotional about going back and walking my elementary hallways for the last time.
As students went through the day, thinking about their past adventures, Charlotte Kish, ‘26, reflected on “seeing the teachers that left a lasting impact on my life.”
She loves being able to act as a role model for the younger children to look up to. All the kids at the elementary schools welcomed the seniors with yelling, high-fives, hugs, tears, motivational pictures, and memories.
This is the first year that the Mountaineer Newspaper went on the trip, but SHS can’t wait for next year!
