Monthly Unique Programs!

Drop-In Fly-Tying Demo & Practice with Trout Unlimited

Most Mondays, 1:00 – 4:00 pm, beginning December 1

Watch fly-tying demonstrations and try your hand at this traditional craft with John from Brodhead Chapter of Trout Unlimited! Drop by to admire both classic and unique examples of fly tying patterns, learn techniques, and practice tying. All flies created will be donated to VALOR to support veterans with fly fishing. No experience or registration required.

Sit & Stitch

Monday, December 1 & December 14, 3:30 – 5 pm (drop-in)

Join us for creative crafting session where all crafts and skill levels are welcome! Bring your own supplies and enjoy a self-guided experience. While there is no formal instruction, you’ll find a supportive atmosphere with friendly crafters ready to chat and help.

Create Holiday Cards for Seniors: Spread Some Holiday Cheer

Brighten a senior’s day this season by making a holiday card! Cards will be delivered to seniors along our Bookmobile route. All supplies are provided – blank cards, festive paper, markers, colored pencils, gel pens, stickers, ribbon, washi tape, glue sticks, etc. You are also welcome to bring your own supplies. This program is intended for adults, but all ages are welcome. If you can’t make it to a session, drop off your handmade cards at the Reference Desk. Please do not include your personal name on the card; instead, simply write “Your Library Friend” as the sender.

HUB Book Club

December’s Book: The Door-To-Door Bookstore by Carsten Henn. An e-book copy of this title is available on Hoopla and print copies available to be placed on hold in our catalog. Free Sunday Film: “Best Christmas Pageant Ever” (2024)

Chaos turns to unexpected holiday heart when the notorious Herdman kids take over the town’s Christmas pageant in this adaptation of Barbara Robinson’s classic novel. Starring Judy Greer and Lauren Graham, and directed by Dallas Jenkins. Rated PG for thematic material and brief underage smoking. Shown with closed captions/English subtitles.

Rubber-Stamped Holiday Card Workshop with Lynn

Guided Meditation w/ Luz: Third Eye and Crown Chakras Focus

Wednesday, December 10, 2:00 – 3:00 pm

Join Luz for a meditation session designed to support relaxation during the winter holidays while also creating space to set intentions for the upcoming new year. This session will focus on the Third Eye and Crown Chakras, helping you cultivate clarity, intuition, and a deeper sense of peace. Optional, but you’re encouraged to bring a yoga mat or chair cushion, a blanket, and yoga blocks and straps. Registration requested but walk-ins welcome. Call 570-421-0800 ext. 317.

Booktalk Book Club

There will be no formal book club meeting in December, but we invite you to join us for a relaxed end-of-year meet-up to share your favorite reads of 2025 and help us choose what to read in 2026. Free Health Booth: Mental Health Around the Holidays

Speak with a PA Department of Health Representative about mental health during the holidays and the New Year, including stress management, seasonal depression, coping strategies, and wellness resources. No appointment needed.

Free Weekday Matinee: Christmas in Connecticut (1945)

Tuesday, December 16, 2:00 pm

Witty charm and festive mischief abound when a famous housekeeping columnist (who can’t cook), is roped into hosting a returning war hero at her supposed Connecticut farmhouse. Directed by Peter Godfrey and starring Barbara Stanwyck, Dennis Morgan, Sydney Greenstreet, and more. This 1945 classic brings cozy comedy and holiday warmth to the screen. Rated TV-G. Library Board Game Night

Wednesday, December 17, 4:00 – 8:00 pm

Join us for fun and games, meet new people, and bring your favorite tabletop games! (Or try ours!) Open to all, ages 14+. No experience required and all skill levels welcome.

FAFSA & Financial Aid Program w/ PHEAA

Thursday, December 18, 6:00 – 7:30 pm

Learn about key deadlines for the 2026–2027 academic year and what to expect after submitting your application. The session will also cover how to apply for aid and important tips for maximizing eligibility. This workshop is ideal for high school students, current college attendees, and parents looking to better understand the financial aid process. Registration requested and helpful, but not required. Word Play Social

Tuesday, December 23, 1:30 – 4:00 pm (drop-in)

Whether you’re an experienced player or new to the games, drop in anytime during the event. Use one of the provided Scrabble, Bananagrams, and other word game boards, or bring your own favorite. It’s a self-guided, come-and-go event – stay for the whole time or just stop by for a bit. No registration required.

    Join our chair yoga sessions, open to all skill levels. Please dress comfortably, bring water, and feel free to bring your own yoga mat. Space is limited to 50 participants, available on a first-come, first-served basis. 
  • Color Yourself Calm (Wednesdays) Every Wednesday, 12:30pm-3:00pm (drop-in) — Pullen Room. No session Wednesday, December 24
    Drop in for a self-guided coloring session where all ages and abilities are welcome. With provided materials and soothing music, you can relax, socialize, or enjoy some quiet time at your own pace.
